The proposal for travelers, whether they choose a traditional tourist program or a tailor-made one, is:
- To deviate from the traditional circuit and discover the true essence of the destination.
- To become a part of the daily life of the place, experiencing interaction and participation with local communities.
- To stay not only in hotels but also in hostels, guesthouses, and, depending on the destination, in family homes that are part of a local development tourism project.
- To prioritize environmental care, contribute to the development of the local economy, and respect the lives of the communities in the chosen destinations.
In this way, one becomes part of this new way of traveling as a conscious traveler, understanding the meaning of rest, leisure, the richness of cultural exchange, recognizing and enjoying the vastness of nature, and respecting the value of fair trade from the very conception.
Furthermore, for the experience of Solidarity Tourism to be complete, it should be integrated into a Sustainable Value Chain in which suppliers (tour operators, transportation, hotels, restaurants, guides, excursions, artisans, local food producers, etc.) also engage in upholding the same criteria, respecting cultural identity, promoting job creation, and preserving the environment.
RESPONSIBLE: “ENSURING THE EMPLOYMENT OF OTHERS.” The proposed activities provide the traditional services of the destination and are delivered by local individuals, thereby ensuring their contribution to local development. The sustainability impact is guaranteed by contracting local service providers who adhere to guidelines for decent work.
INTERCULTURAL: “VALUING THE CULTURE OF THE OTHER.” Travel programs include spaces for exchange with local residents, ensuring that tourism development strengthens cultural identity and promotes the development of crafts and other cultural expressions. This approach preserves authentic expressions offered as a gift to the traveler, where it’s not just a service but, on the contrary, takes a step further toward personal interaction.
ECOLÓGICO: “PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE OTHER.” The service providers included in the Travel Program have adopted certain environmental policy indicators, waste treatment and management, energy efficiency, water consumption levels, accessibility parameters, etc.
100% LOCAL: “CONTRIBUTING TO THE SUSTAINABILITY OF ANOTHER’S LIVELIHOOD.” The services offered in the travel program prioritize the consumption of locally produced food within the same territory or within a 50 km radius of the visited destination, as well as local crafts, hiring local guides, among other aspects. This ensures a comprehensive vision of productive development, thereby contributing to preventing migrations from rural areas. The services within the tourist value chain are locally produced within the framework of fair trade, where the local producer is valued.
Our primary task is to educate a conscious traveler about the impact of their behavior during travel. Solidarity tourism encompasses tourism activities that respect the natural, cultural, and social environment. It allows for the enjoyment of an exchange of experiences, creating a reciprocal relationship between the traveler and the community. The economic benefits of the activity serve as a boost to the development of both the individual and their surroundings, with visitors taking a truly participative attitude in their travel experience.
Every itinerary developed by Boomerang Viajes includes an assessment framework for evaluating the impact of tourist spending and the sustainability consequences of tourism activity. This assessment is completed when finalizing the travel budget, aiming to present the traveler with a breakdown of the total trip cost and its impact on local economic development.

In a world that demands conscious action in the face of climate change, we understand that transparency and concrete measures are essential. We measure our carbon footprint and that of our travelers—a significant step towards comprehending and addressing our environmental impact. The results allow us to offset our unavoidable footprint, enhance our programming methods, and understand in detail our service chain and its impact. In 2019, we set our goal to become Carbon Neutral by 2030. We aim to inspire other organizations and society at large to join us on this journey toward a more awareness-driven world. We firmly believe that by adopting sustainable practices, we can play a crucial role in preserving the environment for future generations.
Despite the substantial challenges, our experience of over 20 years propels us to craft travel proposals in collaboration with organizations dedicated to conservation. We firmly believe that sustainable tourism is the only viable option, acknowledging its impacts and actively working to minimize negative effects.
To achieve this, it’s crucial to have travelers with mindful and respectful behavior. Simultaneously, the guides accompanying these travelers face the challenge of educating, safeguarding, nurturing, and preserving.
Our experience has demonstrated that achieving sustainability and establishing sustainable businesses hinge on creating shared value that aligns with our commitment to environmental stewardship.
